Manual configuration instructions

The instructions below will allow you to setup BrowseSafe without using the BrowseSafe setup program. BrowseSafe can be used on any nearly any device that connects to the Internet. You only need to change the DNS nameservers your computer or other Internet device is using to one of the options below.

Windows Instructions

Windows Vista

  1. Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Center > Personalize
  2. Select your network adapter and click the Properties button, then select Properties again in the window that pops up.
  3. Click Continue to give Vista permission to make changes.
  4. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click on the Properties button
  5. Select the radio button for Use the following DNS server addresses and enter the DNS server IP addresses from the table above depending on your preferences.
  6. Click OK to finish.

Windows XP

  1. Start > Control Panel > Network Connections
  2. Select your network adapter and click the Properties button
  3. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click on the Properties button
  4. Select the radio button for Use the following DNS server addresses and enter the two DNS server IP addresses from the table above depending on your preferences.
  5. Click OK to finish.

Windows 2000

  1. Start > Settings > Control Panel > Network and Dial-up Connections
  2. Select your network adapter and click the Properties button
  3. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click on the Properties button
  4. Select the radio button for Use the following DNS server addresses and enter the two DNS server IP addresses from the table above depending on your preferences.
  5. Click OK to finish.

Windows 95/98/ME

  1. Start > Settings > Control Panel > Network
  2. Select your network adapter that begins with TCP/IP -> and click the Properties button
  3. Select and remove all existing DNS server listed in the DNS Server Search Order section
  4. Add the two DNS server IP addresses from the table above depending on your preferences.
  5. Click OK to finish.
